Employee

If you are a full member (you earn a wage or you are laid off temporarily) and you belong to the Unemployment Fund for Higher Educated Employees Erko, your membership fee is EUR 319 per year.

If you are a full member (you earn a wage or you are laid off temporarily) and you do not belong to the Unemployment Fund for Higher Educated Employees Erko, your membership fee is EUR 244 per year. Please note that if you belong to any unemployment fund other than Erko, your membership fee can be higher than the membership fee of Akava Special Branches, which includes Erko membership (EUR 319 per year).

Student

• Student Pro (membership that includes the membership in the unemployment fund) EUR 96 per year
• Student Basic (membership that does not include the membership in the unemployment fund) EUR 10 per year

Student Pro (membership that includes the membership in the unemployment fund):

In order to be entitled to earnings-related unemployment allowance, you must meet the membership and employment conditions and you have payed the membership fee from any salary you earned during your studies. Every week, during which you work for at least 18 hours, is taken into account in this respect.

As a Pro member, you can split the payment of your membership fee into four interest-free instalments, which means you pay 24 euros every three months. You can also pay the entire fee all at once. The membership fee of Pro has been calculated to correspond to the amount that an average student membership fee was in 2019.

Student Basic (membership that does not include membership in the unemployment fund):
As a Basic member, you pay your membership fee once a year.

*What does a conditional membership of the unemployment fund mean?

Only a person in paid employment can be a member of the unemployment fund. If you are a student and you have no salary income, you can join the unemployment fund as a conditional member. Your actual membership will start on the day you start working and notify us of the start date of your employment, your job title and the name of your employer. A conditional student member of the unemployment fund pays the full Pro membership fee, €96/year, even if they are not employed.

Self-employed person/entrepreneur/freelancer

The membership fee for a self-employed person/an entrepreneur/a freelancer is EUR 140 per year.

Self-employed persons, entrepreneurs and freelancers have the same membership benefits in Akava Special Branches as other members.

In addition to this, services especially for entrepreneurs are offered, such as mentoring and job induction.

Pensioner

The membership fee for a pensioner member is EUR 96 per year.
