Organisation

Akava Special Branches is made up of 21 independent member organisations. Individual members are part of the union through their own member organisation.

The union’s highest decision-making body is the Union Meeting, which comprises representatives appointed by the member associations; it meets every April and November.

The Board serves as the executive body under the Union Meeting and is responsible for the union’s operations.

The following bodies under the Board are responsible for the preparation and development of labour market lobbying in their own sectors:

  • the private sector advisory board
  • the municipality advisory board
  • the state advisory board
  • the university division
  • the committee of independent professionals and entrepreneurs

The union’s office and its 18 employees serve the members in Länsi-Pasila, Helsinki. The union’s operative actions are led by the Executive Director.
