The shop steward or elected representative is the person at your workplace to whom you can turn if you face any problems in working life. The shop steward or elected representative develops and resolves matters together with the employer, gives a voice to other employees’ concerns and promotes the appropriate realisation of the terms of employment.
As a member of Akava Special Branches, you can vote and stand as a candidate in shop steward elections at your workplace. New shop stewards are provided with support, training and strong networks to help them carry out their responsibilities.
