Collective agreements for universities and universities of applied sciences

We represent approximately 1,200 employees in universities and approximately 550 employees in universities of applied sciences. Our members typically work as supervisors and specialists in administrative and library functions in planning, research and development roles.

Our members at universities are within the scope of the general collective agreement for universities.

Our members at universities are represented in negotiations by the Negotiation Organisation for Public Sector Professionals JUKO, in which we work for fair terms of employment and fair pay in the occupations we represent.

Our members at universities of applied sciences are within the scope of the collective agreement for universities of applied sciences.

Our members at universities of applied sciences are represented in negotiations by the Federation of Professional and Managerial Staff YTN, in which we work for fair terms of employment and fair pay in the occupations we represent.

You can influence the development of your collective agreement and our negotiation goals through your member organisation. In Akava Special Branches, lobbying in the universities and universities of applied sciences sector is coordinated by the university sector advisory board, in which the member organisations have representation.

Our members at universities are organised into several different member organisations. Our largest professional groups in both universities and universities of applied sciences are:

  • administrative professionals, (education) planners, project staff, specialists in international affairs, communications specialists, researchers, HR specialists, office staff, managers and supervisors
  • in library functions, information specialists and librarians.
