Akava Special Branches – cause for pride

Akava Special Branches is a multidisciplinary trade union. We offer the members of our member organisations the most skilled and diverse support at all stages of their careers, in times when changes in working life cannot be faced alone.

Our union is made up of 20 member organisations and their members who work in expert and managerial positions in the fields of culture, administration, communications, business and wellbeing, for example.

Akava Special Branches is a member of the central organisation Akava.

History

Akava Special Branches, originally known in Finnish as Akavan Erityisalojen Keskusliitto AEK ry, was founded in 1972 as an organisational channel for small professional groups in Akava. The union was founded through steady desk work, with no ideological motivations. The concept proved to be a success story.
